If you're new to reading my blog, you'll soon find out how much I adore going to Valley Ridge Art Studio for classes every summer. ( the preliminary 2009 schedule is posted-go check it out, it's going to be another great season!) In the summer of 2003, I took my first class there, it was a class on color theory taught by Claudine Hellmuth. It was also the first time I ever bought "real paint", it was primary colors in the fluid adcrylics made by Golden. That's how my love affair with Golden paints (and Valley Ridge-lol) started, and I've stuck to them. But now, Claudine has come out with her own line of acrylic paints, and the colors look wonderful! If you click here for her blog you can read all about it. Knowing how much she loved the quality of her Golden paints, I completely trust her that these paints will be of the highest quality. Not only has she developed her own paint line, she made this video to show how easily her colors mix to create many more colors, expanding your color palette and getting a lot of mileage out of them. As if that wasn't enough, she made a pdf chart as a free download to reference while experimenting with these paints-can't ask for more than that! So, even though I've been a hard core won't use anything but Golden paint kinda gal, I can see a future for these in my own studio soon, the colors are just too much fun to pass up! Even though lately I've shown mostly jewelry that I've made, I've also been doing a lot of playing with paint, and I'm loving it. When I think back to that first class, and how terrified I was, seriously I was sick I was so nervous, and now I'll dive right in & try almost anything and now look so forward to taking more classes each summer, I've come a long way. And speaking of coming a long way, this was my 300th post-I can hardly believe it!! I'll have to think of some kind of celebration in the near future for this one-stay tuned.
those paints look fun... I haven't done much painting for ages really. I think a lot of my paints must be dried up by now! I need to seriously start creating more art! Thanks for being such an inspiration!

Congratulations Sue! That's quite a milestone! I agree about Claudine's new paints...so creamy and buttery looking...they look good enough to eat! Hope you and Gary are feeling better and I can see you both again at wonderful Valley Ridge in 2009! xox
