Way back when, a lot of us started out and met in the Altered Book Yahoo group, a place where we mentored each other and friendships were made that will last forever. One woman in particular, Tracie Miser, made an impact on my life and many others. She was a mentor to me and had the patience of a saint. Generous in sharing her skills and even sometimes her supplies, but she was especially generous in sharing her time and making sure that we learned & grew as artists. Over the years, I got to know her quite well and we had some good stories to tell, stories we laughed about in emails just a couple of weeks ago. Tracie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just about a couple of months ago, and her funeral was today. There wasn't enough time to say a proper good bye, maybe it was better this way, I don't know. Here's a copy of her obituary and the details for a Children's fund that's being set up, she left 3 young sons behind her. Tracie, you'll always be missed! And for anyone reading this, please remember that life can be so very short, be good to those you love & let them know you love them.

oh, this is sso sad! One of my good friends was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, and has just made it into a trial at John's Hopkins. She is doing very well. Another friend had stage III Ovarian cancer and is going into her 3rd year cancer free. My friends have been blessed. I'm so sorry for the loss of yours.

I met Tracie at a convention in Rockford years ago. She was such a friendly and giving person and a wonderfully talented artist. How sad to read this news.
