A week ago, we had a record breaking temperature of 92 degrees, and tonight it's going to be around 40 degrees, with patchy frost possible-ahhhhh, life in Wisconsin. It definitely looked and felt like fall today, and the wind has been howling all day long, blowing over & trashing a couple of my container plantings tonight. Seems like that happens every year, just before it's time to move them back indoors-you'd think I'd learn! I've been wanting to tackle making another necklace lately, but have been putting it off because that means reaming pearls, so that's what I've been doing for the past couple of days, just to get them done, and ready to go. After this, I may never buy another pearl again! On a trellis just outside the back door, we have a porcelain vine, loaded with berries that look just like the pearls I've been working with-can't seem to get away from them! Last night, we had the monthly meeting for ArtBeet at
The Flying Pig . We're doing an ongoing ATC swap, that started last night. Most of the artists had never heard of an ATC before, but were willing to give it a shot, with some great results! You can just feel the group getting stronger and feeling more comfortable with each other, talking about planning future events, functions, and ways to support each other. It's exciting to be involved with this from the beginning and watch it grow, it's all going to be good. Speaking of good--yesterday, was a very very good mail day! Last week, Katie Kendrick posted some new art work, and I instantly fell in love with a piece named Flowering Heart. Fortunately, I was able to contact her (despite both of my email accounts acting up lately-a whole 'nother story!) to purchase it, Anyway, I've been wanting a piece of Katie's art for years, and this one was well worth waiting for-it's even more beautiful in person-I love it, and can hardly wait to get it framed & hung. With her permission to post it here, take a look-isn't she just beautiful??? One more thing for the night---while at
The Flying Pig , an artist there told us about
Save 2nd Base , a webite that's selling these great tee shirts (with a sense of humor) to help fight breast cancer, with 50% of the profits going directly to the
Kelly Rooney Foundation , set up to educate, focus on prevention, and help those who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Please help spread the word about this website, post it on your blogs, tell your friends, do whatever it takes to spread the word. Besides, I know you'll want a t-shirt once you see it!
